
Effective teaching can go a long way in strengthening a community. Since education can have such a significant impact, BTCAM strives to bring awareness and heath teaching to all. As patients come in, they are advised on affective way to prevent local and regional threats. If we see patients who are infected with parasites (worms) we will discuss ways to prevent becoming infected such as wearing shoes and when/how to do hand hygiene. Most people in the rural areas know how to prevent malaria, but may not have funds to purchase mosquito nets. We also discuss other prevention threat prevention techniques such as eliminating standing water as a breeding ground.
